大慶位于黑龍江省西部、松遼盆地北部，地處東北亞腹地，是哈長城市群區域中心城市。大慶是先有油田，后有政府。1959年發現油田，1960年開展石油會戰，1979年國務院批準建市。幅員面積2.1萬平方公里，常住人口320萬，現轄薩爾圖、讓胡路、龍鳳、紅崗、大同5個行政區，林甸、杜爾伯特、肇州、肇源4個縣，1個國家級高新技術產業開發區、1個國家級經濟技術開發區。
